We were thrilled that Kate chose to join us at City Actors after seeing her performance in Grimms -The Final Chapter at The Trafalgar Studios, where she demonstrated her ability to multi-role a wide range of characters and showed a real flair for comedy.
Kate spent her MA year in Poland training and working with the highly respected Teatr Pieśń Kozła (Song of the Goat) and is a founder member of In:stability, a physical theatre ensemble. Earlier in her career Kate was nominated for The Stage Award for Acting Excellence for her solo performance in Adult Child/Dead Child by Claire Dowie at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Other recent productions include Trestle Theatre Company’s The Glass Mountain.
“Kate Lush contrasts the naïveté of the modern mother with the ruthlessness of the queen with her eagle alter-ego.”
Kate is very comfortable creating relationships with her audience and is unafraid of direct contact for comic or confrontational means. Kate came to our attention for her ability to use her physical theatre background to create larger than life roles and extremes of emotion, but more importantly, she has the sensitivity to use these skills to inform her detailed, subtle and naturalistic characterisations.
